A good high streets is often representative of its surrounding area. In the metropolis that is London, we see high streets everywhere. Some distinct, some not so distinct. When a high street is good though, it can easily be enough to encourage people to live in that area, or for locals to frequent it far more than they would normally to socialise or shop around. Here's a list of 7 of our favourite high streets in South London that we think are worth mentioning for their combination of: long history, architecture, community buzz, cultural standing, and...of course...their amazing independent businesses!
