Next Wednesday 11th March 2020, head down to The Signal Pub right outside Forest Hill Station for a hilarious improv comedy night! Titled ‘The Forest’, this improv comedy night will start at 19:30, featuring a belly-aching two hours of original and entertaining comedy. The pub will welcome both new and established teams from London’s improv scene, where locals can get a flavour for what groups are performing around South London.
Organisers Shamus Maxwell, Lora Hristova and Chrissy Williams may all look serious in the photo below, but trust us, they love a good laugh! They are all creative individuals that understand the hard work and dedication that goes into hosting a successful event that celebrates South London’s improv talent.
Shamus, a writer and film-maker, has been performing improv for as many as six years. Not only is he hosting this event, but he also runs his own, original show Dreams & Nightmares occurring once a month. His regular performances at The Free Association Theatre have even been called ‘London’s best improvise comedy’ by The Evening Standard!
Lora is an artist and improviser, performing regularly with The Free Association’s house team, The Present Company, as well as taking part in shows from her own team Dirty Picnic. Chrissy is a poet and comic editor who has two years of improv experience at venues such as Edinburgh Improv Festival!
The event will consist of several improv teams playing out scenes, building worlds, creating ridiculous characters and devising entire sketches all at the drop of a hat! We personally can’t wait for this event and the comedy that is bound to entertain.
The Signal Pub is the perfect venue for this event, welcoming a steady stream of diverse locals into their arms with a refreshing drink and high class entertainment. The pub has an old tavern feel that will make you feel cosy, with an open fire and soft chairs to sink in to and relax. If you want to get here a little before the improv comedy night, you can tuck into their stripped back menu, featuring a Plant Based Burger, spitfire roasted chicken and Butler Steak. Still have room for dessert? You must try the Molten Chocolate Mud Cake or the Sticky Date Pudding.
The Free Association- which host Shamus is a proud member of - put together over 400 live shows a year, with the aim to delight and inspire locals with hilarious and spontaneous performances in the UK, New York, LA, Chicago, Amsterdam and Berlin! They specialise in improv, sketches and stand up comedy, making any event they organise a guaranteed good time.
So make sure to head to The Signal Pub at 7 Devonshire Road in Forest Hill for The Forest Improv Comedy night on Wednesday 11th March between 19:30 - 21:30 for a night to remember and laugh about!
